Nickelatti Construction Co Operated Since 1991
Nickelatti Construction Company (NCC) has proudly served the La Crosse area since 1991. Founded by Mike Nickelatti, the company quickly earned a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, reliability, and professionalism. As a lifelong member of the community, Mike built his business on quality work, honest relationships, and a commitment to exceeding customer expectations.
In 2000, Elliot Place joined the Nickelatti Construction team and quickly became an essential part of the company's continued success. Over the next two decades, Elliot and Mike worked together to build hundreds of custom homes, additions, remodels, and other residential projects while developing lasting relationships with trusted subcontractors and local suppliers.
In 2021, Elliot became Mike's business partner, and in 2026, he proudly assumed ownership of Nickelatti Construction Company as Mike entered retirement. Today, Elliot continues the tradition that has defined the company for more than 35 years: delivering superior craftsmanship, quality construction, and outstanding customer service on every project.

Frequently Asked QuestionS
Here are the questions we hear most often from homeowners planning a custom build across the region.
How long does it take to build a custom home?
A custom home typically takes between 5 and 12 months from permit approval to final walk-through, depending on the home's size, complexity, and site conditions. Permitting timelines vary by municipality and can add 4 to 8 weeks before construction begins.
Do I need to own land before starting a custom home project?
Yes, you need a confirmed building site before construction can begin. Nickelatti Construction Co Inc can assess your lot during the free consultation — evaluating access, utilities, soil conditions, and zoning — so you understand what the site requires before any commitments are made. What is the difference between a custom home and a production build?
A production build uses a developer's fixed floor plans with limited finish options. A custom home is built from your specific plans — every room, finish, and layout decision reflects your priorities, not a builder's inventory. Nickelatti Construction Co Inc builds entirely to client specifications. What does working with a family-owned builder look like day to day?
You deal with the same people throughout — no handoffs between sales, project management, and a crew you've never met. Nickelatti Construction Co Inc is a family-run operation, which means direct communication, personal accountability, and a contractor who knows your project from first conversation to final inspection.
